Young people are the future of the Church! Champions
of Youth is a way to encourage them, support
them, and inspire them to fully embrace the way
of Christ in our world today. Champions of Youth
is the OYM/CYO annual giving program. Adults
who care about youth have a prime opportunity
to invest in young people and the Church of tomorrow.
OYM/CYO Champions of Youth is at the heart
of OYM/CYO. Please consider joining! Composed
of men and women from parishes across the Archdiocese,
Champions of Youth support OYM/CYO through volunteer
work, financial contributions and ongoing prayers
and sacrifices for our young people. The generosity
of the Champions of Youth helps 25,000 youth
served through CYO sports, and countless others
through parish ministry, retreats, leadership
training, conferences and much more. For information
on this essential giving program, contact Deborah
A. McDonald at 202-281-2466 for
a membership brochure.
“This is what is needed: a Church for
young people, which will know how to speak to
their heart and enkindle, comfort, and inspire
enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and
the strength of the Eucharist; a Church which
will know how to invite and to welcome the person
who seeks a purpose for which to commit His whole
existence; a Church which is not afraid to require
much, after having given much; which does not
fear asking from young people the effort of a
noble and authentic adventure, such as that of
following the Gospel.” - Pope John
Paul II, 1995 World Day of Prayer for Vocations
